Day 1-Wednesday - MARRAKECH - ESSAOUIRA (BD)

Leave Marrakech to Essaouira, the former Mogador. Arrival at lunch time (on your own). Afternoon city visit, first a Phoenician counters dating back to 814 BC. Then under the Roman occupancy, it became famous for its production of «Purple dye» coming from the Murex shellfish. In the 216th century the Portuguese sailors renamed it Mogador and it became a very important trading centre. In 1764, the sultan Mohamed ben Abdellah called upon the French architect Théodore Cornut - disciple of Vauban - to build a new city, which he did and Essaouira deserves her name, meaning «the well drawn». The city was very wealthy until the second half of the 19th century, mainly due to the presence of a large Jewish community (up to 17.000 against only 210.000 Moslems!). But most of them left after the Six day war, and after a decline also of its fishing harbor - as the sardines shoals were drifting far more south - the city is born and alive again, mainly through culture (handicraft of Marquetry, painting, Music festivals) and Tourism.

Day 2 -Thursday - ESSAOUIRA - SAFI - OUALIDIA - EL JADIDA (BD)

Morning departure to Safi, fishing harbor on the Ocean and centre of a very famous Pottery tradition. Visit of the city and the potters quarter. Then on to Oualidia, a holiday seaside resort on a lagoon and famous for its oyster breeding and sea food restaurants. Lunch stop (on own). After a late lunch onto El Jadida by a superb road bordering the Atlantic ocean.
Overnight: El Jadida hotel.

Day 3 - Friday - EL JADIDA – CASABLANCA (BD)

Morning visit of El Jadida, including the Portuguese Cistern and the Ramparts Then, either lunch there or on to Casablanca (only 85 kms away by the motorway). Check in your hotel. Afternoon at leisure with car at disposal if you want to finish your shopping.
Overnight: Casablanca hotel.

Day 4 - Saturday - Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Casablanca airport for your onward flight.
